Kathleen Hessman, aspiring broadcast journalist
“I have been involved in Communications since I was in high school. I started out working at my high school’s radio station doing radio shows and then I got involved in a television show called “North Ave. News” where I hosted the news segments about my high school. I now am a senior at Quinnipiac University studying Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Theatre Studies. Since freshman year I have been involved in radio and television, DJing for three years at WQAQ doing a Broadway music/news radio show and being a part of our television station, Q30 News for all four years, where I am currently one of the main anchors on the show. I have also done some reporting for my journalism classes and have made a Theatre news blog. This semester and this past summer I have been involved in two internships. The one last summer was at CNN in New York City, interning for CNN Heroes, which is a special project CNN is doing every year to find everyday heroes and recognize them. I did mostly production work with them. I currently intern at WFSB-TV in Rocky Hill, CT. They are the CBS affiliate in CT and I work at the Assignment Desk answering phones and observing the daily newsroom setting.”
